Rufous Hummingbird

The Rufous Hummingbird is renowned for its vibrant red-and-orange plumage as well as its courageousness--the species is known to take on much larger birds that intrude upon its habitat and even scare away chipmunks that come close to its nest. This remarkable species undertakes an incredible 3000-mile journey from Western Mexico to southern Alaska each year, making it one of the longest migrating birds for its size.
